This past year, we had the opportunity to meet a young Ethiopian woman named Mercy. She has a master’s degree in education and an unbridled enthusiasm for equipping and empowering teachers. Her energy is contagious, and the results of her efforts are truly remarkable. Adera has been looking for qualified tutors to help our children reach their full potential. But to date, we have found it difficult to find qualified candidates.
Mercy used her presence on Tik Tok to issue a call to educators and other volunteers, inviting them to apply their talents to Adera’s students and families. One of the “volunteers,” who is currently pursuing a medical degree, agreed to tutor in English. She did an amazing job with the students and now, her two sisters, who are both physicians, have agreed to offer their services as well, providing much-needed medical care to Adera’s students and families.
At Adera, our goal is for Ethiopians to serve Ethiopians through long-term development that produces a lasting impact. We’re excited to announce that we have been inundated with volunteers and are excited to see the impact that these young influencers will have on our students and their families. Yes, God can even use Tik Tok to accomplish His will for the lives of His children in Ethiopia.
